haiku you do...

"it's the longest night of my life. well, not of my life, but time is moving slow. there are twelve people in the bar. it's 11:30 at night. a woman is singing, playing a guitar. she might be good. at this moment, i have no way of knowing. i don't know her name. it feels like closing time. i've been here for days. long days. my friend matthew came into the bar minutes ago, home from a road trip to vancouver, and l.a. i look forward to hearing the stories. john lennox will be performing soon. small world. i remember him from when i lived in montreal, he played the weekly night i used to do at the green room with joe villacrusis. i haven't talked to joe in a while. he went off to tour manage some bands, travel the world. that was a year ago, he's probably still on the road. i recognize some of the other guys in john's band - faces from st-laurent, the guys sitting at the next table at copa, or biftek. i should be going back soon. most of my life is still there. my records. books. cds. furniture. some clothing. other random bits of ryan. she's done singing now. on the stereo is a bloc party remix cd. somebody burned it and brought it in. i haven't really listened to them yet. i've heard a few things. i guess they're the thing this week. i guess a lot of things. i'm at the bottom of this scrap of paper now, i'm going outside for a smoke."

there's a regular customer at the bar, who's bummed a few smokes off me. a few days ago she asked me for a smoke, and i made some joke about how she's always bumming smokes off me. she offered to write me a haiku for a cigarette...
